55. King Sejo(Gwangneung)_ 세조(광릉)

 Located in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, Gwangneung is the tomb of Sejo who was 7th King of Joseon dynasty and his wife, Queen Jeonghee. A king and a queen are set aside on both sides of the same mountain and there is 1 Jeong Ja Gak between these 2 tombs. There is a story of some Feng Shui masters who say that the descendants of Sejo ruled over Joseon during the 500 years because condition of Gwangneung’s location is good. 경기도 남양주에 위치한 광릉은 조선 7대 세조와 정희왕후 윤씨의 능이다. 같은 산줄기에 좌우 언덕 양쪽에 왕과 왕비를 따로 모시고 능 중간지점에 하나의 정자각이 서 있다. 세조의 광릉 자리가 좋아 조선 500여년을 세조의 후손들이 통치하였다고 하는 일부 풍수가들의 이야기가 전해진다. 세조에 대한 자세한 내용은 자료실을 참고하도록 하자.(http://gbbrake.tistory.com/160)

Gwangneung is located about 1 hour from Seoul, so accessibility is good.

 There is a parking lot for sightseeing. The parking fee is 500 won for the basic 30 minutes, and 200 won for every 10 minutes if it exceeds 30 minutes.

Admission fee is 1,000 won. There is an exhibition room at the entrance, so you can check the contents related to Sejo and the construction of  Gwangneung.

광릉은 서울에서 약 1시간 정도 거리에 위치하고 있어 접근성은 좋은 편이다. 

 관람을 위한 주차장이 있으며 주차료는 기본 30분에 500원이며 30분초과시 10분당 200원이 추가 부과되니 이 점 참고하기 바란다.

입장료는 1,000 원이다. 입구에는 전시실이 있어 세조와 광릉의 제작에 관련된 내용을 확인할 수 있다.

 The tomb can be reached by walking about 10 minutes from the entrance, and it is a little  smaller than other places because this place is only for Sejo.

 There is also a sign on the entrance of to the royal Tomb, indicating that it is also a UNESCO cultural heritage site.

릉은 입구에서 약 10분정도 걸으면 도착할 수 있으며 세조 한 분만을 모시고 있는 릉이기에 규모는 다른 곳에 비해 좀 작다고 보면 된다. 

이곳도 유네스코 문화유산임을 알려주는 표지가 왕릉 입구에 서 있다.

 

 Hamabi. Regardless of the position, it is a sign from here to walk down from the horse.

 It seems to mean to have a pious mind in front of the royal tomb.

 하마비. 지체 고하를 막론하고 이 곳부터는 말에서 내려 걸어가라는 표지이다. 

 왕릉 앞에서 경건한 마음을 가지라는 의미로 보여진다.

 A quiet forest road which is unique to the royal tomb calms the mind. Gwangneung is the opposite side of the red gate with spiked top seen in front.

 왕릉 특유의 조용한 숲길이 마음을 차분하게 해 준다. 앞에 보이는 홍살문 건너편이 바로 광릉이다.

 광릉에 대한 안내판이다. 관람 전 읽어보면 더 재미있을 것이다.

 On the left is the Sejo and the right is queen Junghee. What is shown in the photograph is a sejo.

 왼편이 릉이 세조이고 오른쪽이  정희왕후 이다. 사진에 보이는 것은 세조. 

This is the tomb of Queen Junghee. The shape of the royal tombs of the Joseon Dynasty, where the tombs of the king and the queen are built on the left and right, centering on Jeong Ja Gak, is called Dongwonigangneung.

여기는 정희왕후의 릉이다. 이렇게 정자각을 중심으로 좌 우에 왕과 왕비의 릉이 조성되어 있는 조선왕릉의 형태를 동원이강릉 이라고 한다.

 The appearance of the Jeong Ja Gak. It is a place to do memorial ceremony for these two people.

 정자각의 모습. 두 분을 위한 제사를 지내는 곳이다.

 비각. 왕릉의 주인이 누구인지를 알려주는 표지이다.

 You can see the information related to the memorial ceremony when you come on the Jeong Ja Gak. The day of Gwangneung is 8th Sep of the lunar calendar.

 정자각 위에 올라오면 제례에 관련된 정보를 볼 수 있다. 광릉의 제향일은 음력 9월 8일이라고 한다.

 Gwangneung is far from the seoul compared to other royal tombs. As a royal family, King Sejo rose in revolt which called Gye Yu Jeong Nan

to strengthen of royal authority, and he took the throne of his nephew and eventually killed him. In this situation, what kind of conversation was done between King Seojo and Queen Junghee ? I think for a moment In quiet Gwangneung.

다른 릉에 비해 수도에서 먼 곳에 위치한 광릉. 왕권강화를 위해 계유정난을 일으켜야 했던 왕족으로서의 고뇌, 조카를 내치고 왕위를 찬탈했으며 결국 죽여야 할 수 밖에 없었던 상황에서 과연 세조는 정희왕후와 무슨 이야기를 나누었고 어떤 마음이었을까. 

조용한 광릉에서 잠시 생각에 잠겨본다.
