20. Choe Museon_Jinpo Maritime Theme Park_Gunsan(군산 진포해양테마공원)

 Choe Museon is military officer from late Goryeo to early Joseon dynasty, who developed gunpowder for the first time Korea. Based on the cannon developed in this way, it has sunk 500 enemy vessels in Jinpo (now near Gunsan). It is called "Jinpo victory" and there is Jinpo Maritime theme park in Gunsan to honor it.  The characteristic of Gunsan is 'Japanese style'. As it was developed as harbor to export rice which was produced in the Honam region to Japan during the Japanese colonial era, it had grown tremendously and became the city where most of the modern Japanese-style buildings can be seen in Korea. Thanks to these exotic landscapes, Gunsan is famous as a place for filming and nowadays it is also famous as sightseeing spot nationally.

 The citizens of Gunsan maintain and preserved the tourist attractions well and it is creating many positive effects. So Gunsan is one of the favorite cities in Korea personally.

 군산의 특징은 '일본식' 이다. 일제강점기 당시 호남지방에서 생산된 쌀을 일본으로 수탈하기 위한 항구로 발전하게 되면서 엄청난 성장을 하게 되고 이 덕분에 한국에서 근대 일본식 건축물을 가장 많이 볼 수 있는 도시가 되었다. 이러한 이국적인 풍경 덕분에 군산은 영화 촬영장소로도 유명하고 요즘에는 전국적인 관광지로도 유명세를 타고 있다.

 군산 시민들이 고장의 관광지를 잘 가꾸고 보존하여 긍정적인 효과가 나타나고 있는 것이 아닌가 하며 개인적으로 한국에서 가장 좋아하는 도시 중의 하나이다. 군산에 대한 더 자세한 내용은 군산 시간여행이라는 글을 통해 확인하시기 바란다.

 Jinpo Maritime theme park is located in Gunsan inner harbor and it takes about 2 hours and 50 minutes by car from Seoul.

 진포해양테마공원은 군산시 내항에 위치하며 서울에서 차로 2시간 50분 정도 소요되니 이점 참고하시기 바란다.

 It was impressed that there are many free parking lot during city tour of Gunsan. The Gunsan Modern History Museum and Jinpo Maritime theme park can be parked in the same parking lot and parking is free.

 군산여행을 와 보고 감탄했던 점은 시내관광시 무료주차장이 많아 편리했던 것이다. 군산 근대역사박물관과 진포해양테마공원은 동일한 주차장에 주차 후 관람할 수 있는데 주차료는 무료이다. 

 Walk to Jinpo Maritime theme park along the coast after parking. The outdoor exhibition hall is open to the public for free and the entrance fee of 1,000 won is required to view the main enclosure. First, you can see the national flag displayed in the outdoors. The flag of countries that helped South Korea during the Korean War was fluttering.

 주차후 해안가를 따라 조성되어 있는 진포해양테마공원로 이동해 본다. 야외전시관은 무료개방이고 주 전시관인 위봉함을 관람하기 위해서는 관람료 1000원이 필요하다. 우선 야외에 전시된 만국기가 보인다. 6.25전쟁때 한국을 도와 참전한 국가들의 국기가 펄럭인다.

 If you go a little further inside, there are various military equipment which the Korean army operated last time. Now, the retired military equipment comes into my eyes. Children seem surprised with these.

 조금더 안으로 들어가보면 한국군이 실제로 운용하다 이제는 퇴역한 군사 장비들이 눈에 들어온다. 아이들이 보면 신기해 할 것 같다.

옛날 조선시대에 사용하던 화포들도 보이고

 It is the entrance of the warship ‘We Bong’ which is used as the main exhibition room. It was surprised to use actual warships as exhibition halls.

 주전시실 위봉함의 입구입니다. 실제 전함을 전시관으로 사용한다는 게 신기할 따름이다.

 The inside is much wider than what you see outside. It was created in the United States in 1945, participated in World War II, was taken over to Korea in 1959, and entered Vietnam war before it was retired in 2006. There are several exhibition halls that display the models of the Jinpo victory, the weapons that were used at that time, the story of the cannon made by General Choe Museon, and the life experience of navy. 

 실내는 밖에서 본 것보다 매우 넓다. 1945년에 미국에서 만들어져 2차세계대전에 참전도 하고 1959년에 한국에 인수되어 베트남전에도 참전하고 2006년에 퇴역한 상륙함이다. 전시관 내부는 진포대첩 모형과 당시 쓰였던 무기, 최무선 장군이 만든 화포이야기, 해군 병영생활 체험 등을 전시한 전시관이 마련되어 있다.

 Inside the hall, there is a short film about Choe Museon, which is interesting but it does not support subtitles or voice in English.

 전시관 내부에는 최무선 관련 짧은 영화를 보여주고 있는데 재미있는 내용이지만 영어로 된 자막이나 음성을 지원해 주지 않아 외국인 관광객들에 대한 배려가 아쉬웠다.

 When you go up to the second floor, you will see a space where you can experience the barracks of the Navy. Jinpo Maritime theme park is well managed so I think it will be able to get a lot of useful information about Korean navy and sea war history. 2층으로 올라가면 해군의 병영생활을 제험해 볼 수 있는 공간이 나온다. 진포해양테마공원은 관리가 잘 되어 있는 곳이라 들러본다면 한국 해전사 및 해군 관련 유익한 정보들을 많이 얻어갈 수 있을 것이라 생각한다. 더불어 일제시대의 항구 모습도 살펴볼 수 있다.
