17. Gang Gam chan_Nakseongdae Park(강감찬_낙성대 공원 서울)

Line 2 is the most popular route for people in Seoul subway. Almost all of the people of Seoul know that there is a Nakseongdae in Line 2, but few know that it is related to General Gang Gam chan, one of Koryo Dynasty's most famous great men.

 I also knew this fact during searching the relics related to him. Nakseongdae is the birthplace of General Gang Gam chan , it was said that the general was born after the big star fell down in the village and named it Nakseongdae. 서울 지하철 중 사람들이 가장 많이 이용하는 노선이 2호선이다. 거의 모든 서울사람들이 2호선에 낙성대역이 있다는 사실은 알고 있지만 낙성대가 고려의 가장 유명한 위인중 하나인 강감찬 장군과 관련이 있다는 사실을 아는 사람은 많지 않을 것이다.

Nakseongdae Park can be reached on foot from Nakseongdae Station on Subway Line 2, and there is a large free parking lot in front of the park.

 낙성대 공원은 지하철 2호선 낙성대 역에서 내려 도보로 갈 수 있으며 넓은 무료 주차장이 있어 차량으로 이동 가능하다.

When you enter the park, you will see the people living in the neighborhood resting relaxedly. On one side of a large park, there is a statue of Gang Gam chan riding on horseback with a dignified appearance.

 낙성대 공원에 들어서면 동네 주민들이 여유롭게 쉬고 있는 모습을 볼 수 있을 것이다. 넓은 공원 한쪽에 강감찬 장군이 위엄 있는 모습으로 말을 타고 있는 동상이 눈에 들어온다.

There is a red door on one side of the park and it called as a red gate with spiked top. It is a gate built in Korea from the Three Kingdoms period to the beginning of important places. If you go to this place, you will see the ruins related to General Gang Gam chan.

 공원 한쪽에 붉은 색 문이 있는데 홍살문이라 한다. 한국에서 삼국시대부터 중요한 장소 등의 초입에 세우던 문이다. 이 곳으로 가면 강감찬 장군과 관련된 유적을 볼 수 있으리라.

As expected, this place is called ' Anguksa', a temple to honor general Gang. It was well maintained from the beginning to the shrine.

 예상대로 이곳은 강감찬 장군을 모신 사당 '안국사' 라고 한다. 초입부터 사당까지 잘 정돈되어 있었다.

 You can see the portrait of General Gang inside the shrine. Of course, it is the standard one designated by the government. We cannot estimate how the history of Koryo dynasty could have changed if there is no brilliant exploit of general Gang. I gave thanks to General, a hero who defeated the Khitans, who had the greatest military strength of the time, and looked around the shrine.

 사당 내부에는 강감찬 장군의 영정을 볼 수 있다. 물론 정부에서 지정한 표준영정이다. 장군의 활약이 없었다면 고려의 역사가 어떻게 변했을 지 알 수 없는 노릇이다. 당대 최고의 군사력을 보유했던 거란족을 물리친 영웅, 강감찬 장군 앞에 감사의 인사를 드리고 주위를 둘러 보았다.

 I totally didn’t know that there was such a secluded space in the middle of Seoul. I could have relaxed time in a quiet temple. It is recommended for foreign tourists visiting Seoul to visit this place to feel the warmth of Nakseongdae which is located under the Gwanak Mountain.

 서울 한 복판에 이렇게 한적한 공간이 있을 줄은 상상도 못했다. 모처럼 조용한 사당 내에서 마음을 편히 할 수 있었다. 서울을 관광하시는 외국인 관광객들도 이 곳을 들러 관악산 아래 포근하게 위치한 낙성대의 멋을 느끼고 가셨으면 좋겠다.
