6. Isabu(이사부) _ Tomb of King Naemul_Gyeongju (경주 내물왕릉)

It is said that the Isabu who is famous for General Silla who conquered the Usan-Guk(Currently Ulleungdo Island) is the fourth generation of the king Naemul. So I decided to visit the tomb of king Naemul in Gyeongju. As I mentioned in the section of Bak Hyeokgeose, it is around 4 hours away from Seoul by car but worth to visit because of various things to see. 우산국을 정벌한 신라장군으로 유명한 이사부는 내물왕의 4세손이라는 설이 있다. 그래서 경주 내물왕릉을 방문하기로 하였다.

It takes around 10 min from Daeleungwon by bicycle.

내물왕릉도 대릉원에서 자전거를 타고 약 10분정도면 올수있는 거리에 위치해 있다.

 It is located near Gyerim and the surrounding forests are well preserved. It looks like a small hill because size of tomb is very big. As the 17^th king of the Silla, king Naemul established a central ruling system. Park, Seok, and Kim clan governed together until his reign, but he changed this rule to succession of the throne by Kim clan only. It seems that he was excellent person regarding political power. It is clear that Isabu made a large contribution to establishing the Silla regime of Kim clan only through conquest of Usan-Guk.

 Gyerim and Wolseong district are located in one area, so I recommend stopping by them also when you visit the tomb of Naemul. Gyerim and Wolseong districts are connected to a single forest. It is peaceful forest and can be the right place for those who want to relax in a leisurely place.

 Gyeongju is popular area as one of the foreigner's sightseeing courses and many historical sites are concentrated in specific small area. City roads are well maintained so that you can walk and English explanation board can also be found without difficulty. For this reason, I think at least Gyeongju is relatively comfortable place for foreign tourists.

내물왕릉은 계림근처에 있으며 주변 숲이 잘 보존되어 있다. 능의 규모가 커서 작은 동산을 보는 것 같다. 

내물왕은 신라 제 17대 왕으로서 중앙집권체제를 확립한 인물로 기존 박, 석, 김씨의 3 성이 돌아가며 왕을 했으나 내물왕 이후 김씨 성에 의한 왕위계승이 이루어진다. 정치력이 탁월한 인물이었던 것 같다. 이런 분의 후손인 이사부가 우산국을 정벌했으니 김씨의 신라통치 체제 확립에 이사부가 혁혁한 공을 세웠음이 분명하다.

근처에 계림과 월성지구가 이어져 있으니 온 김에 들러 다 보고 가는 것을 추천한다. 내물왕릉부터 계림과 월성지구는 하나의 숲으로 이어져 있다. 공원같은 분위기이니 한가한 곳에서 휴식을 원하는 분들에게 적절한 장소인 듯 하다.

다른 지역은 몰라도 경주는 외국인 관광이 비교적 편한 곳이라고 생각한다. 예전부터 외국인 관광코스의 하나로 유명하며 좁은지역에 많은 유적지가 모여있고 걸어서 다녀도 될 만큼 도로가 잘 정비되어 있기 때문이다. 영어로 된 설명들도 어렵지 않게 찾아볼 수 있다.
