Everland(Yong-in in Gyeonggi do)_에버랜드(경기 용인)

The first image that comes to mind regarding Yongin is Everland. It was first opened as Yongin Natural Plantation in 1976 and changed its name to Everland in 1996. Seven million visitors visit each year, making it the most visited tourist spot in Korea. It is also one of the major tourist attractions in Korea, including over 200 million visitors in 2013.

 This is the biggest theme park in Korea. It can be said that there are many things to see and enjoy that we can imagine, such as rides, zoos and various facilities. The Caribbean Bay, which is the best water park in Korea, is located next to Everland, so it became a playground full of dreams and hopes for children.

 I personally liked this place, so spend one day in this park once a year. This time I selected it as a famous place near the tomb of Jeong MongJu and visited.

 

 용인하면 떠오르는 첫 이미지는 에버랜드이다. 1976년 용인자연농원으로 처음 개장한 후 1996년에 에버랜드로 이름을 바꾸었다. 매년 700만명 정도가 방문하여 대한민국 관광지 중 가장 많은 관광객이 방문하는 장소이며, 2013년에 누적방문객 2억명을 돌파하기도 하는 등 대한민국의 대표 관광명소 중 하나이다. 한국에서 가장 큰 테마파크인 이곳은 놀이기구와 동물원 그리고 각종 시설물까지 우리가 상상할 수 있는 볼거리, 즐길거리는 거의 다 모여 있다고 할 수 있겠다. 국내 최고의 워터파크라고 할 수 있는 캐리비안 베이도 에버랜드 옆에 위치하고 있으니 이 부근은 아이들에게 꿈과 희망이 가득한 놀이동산이 되었다. 필자도 개인적으로 이곳을 좋아해서 1년에 한 번 정도는 꼭 들려서 하루를 보내곤 하는데 이번에도 정몽주 묘소 근처의 명소로 선정, 방문해 보았다.

 

 Everland is located in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do and takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes by car from Seoul. It is also easy to get there by public transport and you can come to just before Everland using the bus.

 

 에버랜드는 경기도 용인시에 위치하며 서울에서 승용차로 약 1시간 20분정도 걸린다. 대중교통을 이용해서 오기도 쉬우며 버스를 타면 에버랜드 바로 앞까지 올 수 있다.

 There is nothing else in the vicinity of Everland, only the facilities related to Everland. There are a lot of parking lots around, but on the weekends, the wide parking lots are filled with cars surprisingly. Many people come here from all over the country on tour buses and it is a favorite place for students to go on picnic and school trip.

 

 에버랜드 부근에는 다른 것은 없고 오로지 에버랜드와 관련된 시설들만 있다. 주변에 수많은 주차장이 있으나 주말에는 신기하게도 그 넓은 주차장이 꽉 차서 차 세울 곳을 찾느라 애를 먹는다. 전국에서 관광버스를 타고 오기도 하고 학생들이 수학여행 및 소풍을 갈 때 즐겨 찾는 장소이기도 하다.

 

 There are also a lot of ticket offices, and you can see the crowds of people lined up at all the ticket offices during weekends. I visited on weekdays so only some of them are opened. I was able to buy tickets without waiting.

 

 매표소도 상당히 많은데 주말에는 모든 매표소에 사람들이 줄지어 서있는 진풍경을 볼 수 있다. 필자는 평일에 방문해서 일부 매표소만 운영 중이었으며 바로 입장권을 구입할 수 있었다. 

 

 There are many ways to get discounts on tickets, so I recommend you to search the internet when you visit. Keep in mind that there are very few people who buy and pay for a list price. I also received credit card discounts.

 

 입장권 할인을 받을 수 있는 방법이 의외로 많이 있으니 방문하실 때 인터넷 여기저기 검색해 보실 것을 추천한다. 제 가격을 다 주고 구매하는 분들이 거의 없다는 사실을 염두하시길. 필자도 신용카드 할인을 받아 입장했다.

 Personally, Everland's highlights is a fantastic night light and a parade performance after sunrise, so I visit here from 2 to 3 pm rather than early in the morning. If you play from too early, you will not be able to enjoy it in the evening. I also visited this day around 3 o'clock.

 

 개인적으로 에버랜드의 하이라이트는 해가 진 뒤에 펼쳐지는 환상적인 조명과 야간 퍼레이드라고 생각하기 때문에 아침 일찍보다는 오후 2~3시쯤 방문한다. 너무 일찍부터 와서 놀다 보면 저녁에 지쳐서 제대로 즐길 수 없기 때문이다. 이 날도 3시쯤 방문했다.

 

 Everland has unique theme for each area, so you can enjoy various atmosphere. When you enter the entrance, the first area visible is the global fair. Just as the first impression is important, it seems that Everland put much effort into this area. "From here, the country of dreams and hopes begins, so you may look forward to it." Buildings, shops, and restaurants that are based on the architectural style of many countries around the world welcome us.

 

 에버랜드는 구역별로 각각 테마가 있어서 다양한 분위기를 즐길 수 있다. 입구에 들어서면 가장 먼저 보이는 구역이 글로벌 페어이다. 모든 것이 첫인상이 중요하듯 에버랜드 측에서도 이곳에 상당히 공을 들인 흔적이 역력하다. ‘자 여기서부터 꿈과 희망의 나라가 시작되니 기대해도 좋아요’라고 이야기하듯 세계 여러나라의 건축양식을 본따 만든 건물과 상점, 음식점이 우리를 반긴다.

 

 

 A giant tree stands in the center and sometimes makes a mysterious sound, suggesting that a fantastic world will unfold through this tree. If you really go through this tree, a lot of facilities are waiting.

 

 이 나무를 지나면 환상적인 세계가 펼쳐진다는 것을 암시하듯 중앙에 거대한 나무가 서 있고 가끔 신비한 소리를 낸다. 정말로 이 나무를 지나면 여러 시설물들이 기다리고 있다.

 

 Everland offers various festivals per season, with tulip festivals (March to April) and rose festivals (May to June) to celebrate the blooming season, and other festivals during the rest of the year. It was during the "Christmas Fantasy" festival that I visited at the end of November.

 

 에버랜드는 계절별로 각기 다른 축제를 마련하고 있으며 꽃이 피는 시기에 맞춰 튤립축제(3~4월)과 장미축제(5~6월)가 열리고 그 외의 기간에도 특별한 축제들이 있다. 필자가 방문했을 당시는 11월 말이라 ‘크리스마스 판타지’ 축제 기간이었다.

 

 

 If you go a little past the global fair, you can see the lift on your left. You can go to 'Zootopia' where you can meet various animals using this lift. It runs unconditionally on holiday but does not operate if there are not many tourists on weekdays. This day was a day when there was no lift operation, so I went up and down the sloping hill. If you get something, you lose something. I thought that it was a cost to enjoy the leisurely Everland and enjoyed it.

 

 글로벌 페어를 지나 조금 가다 보면 왼편으로 리프트가 보이는데 이 리프트를 타면 다양한 동물들을 만나 볼 수 있는 ‘주토피아’로 갈 수 있다. 휴일에는 무조건 운행하나 평일에 관광객이 많지 않으면 운행을 하지 않는다. 이 날도 리프트 운행이 없는 날이라 경사진 언덕을 오르락 내리락 하며 관람을 했다. 얻는 것이 있으면 잃는 것도 있는 법. 한가한 에버랜드를 즐기는 대가라고 생각하고 즐겁게 다녔다.

 

  In Zootopia, you can see various animal from many parts of the world. The panda welcomes us at the Zootopia entrance.

 

 주토피아에서는 세계 여러 지역에서 서식하는 동물들을 만나볼 수 있다. 주토피아 입구에는 판다가 우리를 반기고 

 

 There is a space where you can meet various kinds of birds beside it.

 

 그 옆으로 여러 종류의 새들을 만나볼 수 있는 공간이 있다. 

 If you go down a little further, there is a place where you can see the tiger closely. It seems like remodeling the facilities recently. The whole walls are made with windshield so was able to enjoy it more comfortably than before.

 

 조금 더 내려가면 호랑이를 가까이서 볼 수 있는 장소도 있는데 최근 시설을 리모델링 한 듯 통유리창으로 벽을 만들어 놓아서 전보다 쾌적하게 관람할 수 있었다.

 The herbivorous animal safari 'Lost valley’, which is one of the most popular places in Zootopia, is seen.

 

 주토피아의 가장 인기있는 장소 중 하나인 초식동물 사파리 '로스트 밸리가 보인다.'

 Originally, Zootopia had only carnivorous animal safari to meet lions, tigers, and bears. 'Lost Valley' was opened to see herbivores nearby a few years ago, and is being popular recently.

 

 원래 주토피아에는 사자, 호랑이, 곰 등을 만나볼 수 있는 육식동물 사파리만 있었는데 몇 년 전에 초식동물들도 가까이에서 만나볼 수 있는 '로스트 밸리'를 개장하여 인기몰이 중이다.

 

 It is usually a long line from here on holidays, but it was a weekday, so I took a leisurely walk and went inside.

 

 휴일에는 보통 여기서부터 줄이 길게 늘어서 있는데 오늘은 평일이라 여유롭게 산책하면서 안으로 들어갔다.

 As you can see below, the waiting line is empty. It is almost impossible to expect such a situation on the weekend. If you plan to use this facility on weekends, you should consider waiting for more than an hour.

 

 아래 보시는 것 처럼 대기줄이 텅 비어 있다. 주말에 이런 상황을 기대하는 것은 불가능에 가깝다고 보시면 된다. 이 시설을 주말에 이용하시려면 1시간 이상 기다리시는 것을 감안하셔야 하겠다. 

 This day is a weekday, so I passed without waiting.

 

 이 날은 평일이라 기다리지 않고 바로 통과. 

 Visitors watches carnivore safari on a special bus surrounded by protective equipment to prevent the risk of a safety accident, but the Lost valley is a place to watch herbivorous animals, so the window of the car is somewhat opened, so you can see the animals closer.

 

 육식동물 사파리는 안전사고의 위험을 방지하기 위해 보호장비로 둘러싸인 가려진 버스를 타고 관람하지만, 이곳 로스트 벨리는 초식동물을 보는 곳이므로 차량의 유리창이 어느정도 개방되어 있어 보다 가까이에서 동물들을 만나볼 수 있다. 

 Regardless of age or sex, they were deeply occupied seeing strange animals that do not live in Korea.

 

 어른 아이 할 것 없이 한국에 서식하지 않는 신기한 동물들을 보느라 정신이 없다.

 It is a neighborhood carnivore safari. The lions are seen lying on the rock.

 

 옆 동네 육식동물 사파리이다. 사자들이 바위 위에 누워 있는 것이 보인다.

 When you watch, there are cases where animals come in front of you. It is really amazing.

 

 관람을 하다 보면 이렇게 동물들이 코앞에 오는 경우가 있다. 정말 신기하다.

 We came out of the Lost Valley and climbed the hill again to watch the child's favorite movie called ‘Turning Mecards’. It is a facility just in front of the entrance and kid’s one of the most favorite item, so I gave up watching the carnivore safari to see this.

 

 로스트 벨리를 나와 아이가 좋아하는 터닝메카드 영화를 보러 다시 언덕을 올라왔다. 입구 바로 앞에 있는 시설물인데, 아이들 취향저격 아이템으로서 이걸 보기 위해 육식동물 사파리 관람은 포기했다. ㅡㅡ;

 We can watch it in the place like actual theater as follows. Turning Mecards also can be seen on TV, but it seems to be a bit different because it is theater version. Parents can sit comfortably and rest for a little while the children enjoy the movie.

 

 아래와 같이 실제 극장과 같은 장소에서 관람을 한다. 터닝메카드는 TV로도 볼 수 있지만 이곳은 극장판이라 내용이 조금 다른 것 같다. 아이들이 신나게 즐기는 동안 부모님들은 이곳에서 편하게 앉아 잠시 쉬어 갈 수 있다.  

 The sun is setting. American Adventure can be seen in front of me. It is a space created with the theme of the United States of America from the 1950s to the 1960s and is a place where various rides are gathered. This is the most popular place for young people.

 

 점점 해가 지고 있다. 앞에 아메리칸 어드벤쳐가 보인다. 1950~60년대의 미국을 테마로 조성된 공간이며 각종 놀이기구들이 모여 있는 곳이다. 청소년들에게 가장 인기있는 장소라고 보시면 된다.  

 Going round and round, falling from top to bottom. I don't like this type of rides, and my child was still too small to enjoy so we just passed by looking in the eye.

 

 빙글빙글 돌아가고 위에서 아래로 떨어지고. 필자는 이런 종류의 기구 타는 것을 별로 좋아하지 않고 아이는 아직 키가 작아 자격미달이라 그냥 눈으로 보면서 지나갔다. 

 It is ‘pride in Korea’ to produce and display the history of Korea with cutting-edge imaging technique. Foreign tourists who are interested in Korean history are likely to see it. Please note that on weekends, only 96 visitors can be allowed entry by order of arrival per each scheduled time.

 

 대한민국의 역사를 첨단 영상기법으로 제작, 전시하는 프라이드 인 코리아다. 한국의 역사에 관심이 있는 외국인 관광객들이 둘러보기에 좋을 듯싶다. 주말에는 정해진 시간에 선착순으로 96명씩만 관람이 가능하다고 하니 참고하시기 바란다. 

 When you go up the stairs, you will see a big exhibition space divided into several experiential zones.

 

 계단을 올라가면 큰 전시공간이 나오는데 몇 개의 체험 존으로 나누어져 있다. 

 You can see the history and cultural heritage of Korea through a large screen, and various great people including Yi Sun Shin are introduced in this facility. The difference from other exhibitions is that you can appreciate Korea with more advanced technology. Famous domestic tourist attraction and historic site can be visited here through various kinds of games, VR experience, etc.

 

 대형 스크린을 통해 대한민국 역사 및 문화유산을 살펴볼 수 있고, 이순신을 비롯한 여러 위인들을 테마별로 소개하고 있다. 다른 전시관과 다른 점은 첨단 기술을 이용해 좀 더 실감나게 대한민국을 감상해 볼 수 있다는 것이다. 각종 게임, VR체험 등을 통해 국내의 유명한 관광지, 유적지들을 이 곳에서 만나볼 수도 있다. 

 Many of the 100 great men are here, so if you are interested, I recommend you take a closer look.

 

 100명의 위인들 중 많은 분들이 이곳에 있으니 관심있는 분들께서는 자세히 둘러보실 것을 추천한다. 

 Finally, night came to the Everland. It is time to appreciate other aspects from now on. Everland seems to give a more fantastic feeling after the lights come on.

 

 에버랜드에도 밤이 찾아왔다. 이제부터 다른 모습을 감상할 시간이다. 조명이 들어온 이후의 에버랜드가 좀 더 환상적인 느낌을 주는 것 같다.

 You can go down to the Aesop's Village on the theme of Aesop's Fables, down the hill below from the American Village. Moving walk was installed so that you can climb the hill easily but it was not working due to weekday.

 

 아메리칸 빌리지에서 아래의 언덕을 통해 내려가면 이솝우화를 주제로한 이솝빌리지로 갈 수 있다. 언덕을 편하게 올라올수 있도록 무빙워크가 설치되어 있는데 평일이라 작동하지 않았다. 

 Lighting makes the building even more fantastic.

 

 조명이 건물을 더욱 환상적으로 만들어 준다. 

 Aesop village is well equipped with facilities for children and preschoolers to have fun.

 

 이솝 빌리지는 유아 및 미취학 아동과 즐거운 시간을 보내기에 적절한 시설들이 모여 있다. 

 I picked out the ride that is available for infants and let my baby to enjoy. He liked it so much.

 

 아이가 탈 수 있는 놀이기구를 골라 태워주었더니 너무 좋아한다. 

 The parade, which can be called the flower of Everland night view, has begun. Several cars of the form shown below are marching in line, each decorated differently, and the dancers grab the attention of the audience with their spectacular costumes and wonderful dancing skills.

 

 에버랜드 야간 관람의 꽃이라 할 수 있는 퍼레이드가 시작되었다. 아래와 같은 모양의 차량 여러 대가 줄지어 행진을 하는데 각각 다른 장식을 하고 있고 무용수들이 화려한 복장과 멋진 춤솜씨로 관객들의 시선을 사로잡는다. 

 My favorite place is ‘European Village’. It is said that it reproduces real European village, I don’t know how realistic it is, but the scene where the garden and the light are mixed at night is really splendid and wonderful. Because it is a Christmas fantasy season, everywhere is full of gold color.

 

 필자가 가장 좋아하는 장소인 유러피언 빌리지이다. 유럽 마을을 재현해 놓았다고 하는데 얼마나 사실적으로 묘사했는지는 몰라도 야간에 정원과 조명이 어우러진 광경은 정말 화려하고 멋지다. 크리스마스 판타지 시즌이라 사방이 온통 금빛으로 가득 차 있다.  

 When you enter the garden, you will notice that every detail of the decor is prepared with great care. It is bright as daytime under the light, and the surroundings are all golden decoration.

 

 정원 안에 들어오면 디테일한 장식 하나하나가 신경을 많이 쓴 흔적이 역력하다. 조명아래는 낮과 같이 환하고 주변은 온통 금빛 장식이다. 

 A space that reproduces the house living room decorated with Christmas decoration. I felt warm and cozy, and I could feel happiness just by being inside.

 

 크리스마스 장식으로 꾸민 어느 집 거실을 재현한 공간. 아늑하고 따스한 느낌이며 잠시 안에 있는 것만으로도 행복감을 가져볼 수 있었다.

 I remember the cottage with the sweets from the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel.

 

 동화 헨젤과 그레텔에 나오는 과자로 된 오두막집이 생각난다.

 The end of today was decorated with carousel. Everland is open from 10 am to 10 pm. It is a place for me to visit several times, but once entering this amusement park, I enjoy without knowing how time flies until the closing time.

 

 오늘의 마지막은 회전목마로 장식했다. 에버랜드 운영시간은 오전 10시~ 오후 10시까지이다. 수 차례 와본 곳이지만 일단 유원지 안에 들어오면 폐장시간이 될 때가지 시간 가는 줄 모르고 다니게 된다.

 나오는 길에 한 컷. 거리는 온통 금빛 조명으로 물들어 있다. 

 I came to the Magic Tree again. It is time to return to the real world again. Animal friends say goodbye to come again next time. I hope Everland, which has been in operation for decades but is showing a new look every year, that it will literally be 'Ever land' and will continue to be a joy to us forever.

 

 다시 매직 트리 앞까지 왔다. 다시 현실세계로 돌아올 시간이다. 동물친구들이 다음에 또 오라고 작별인사를 한다. 수 십년 동안 운영 중이지만 매년 들를 때마다 새로운 모습을 보여주는 에버랜드는, 말 그대로 'Ever land' 영원히 우리 곁에서 즐거움을 주며 꾸준히 운영되어 지기를 바란다.
