Maemil Madang(Chungju)_메밀마당(충주)

 Chungju seems don’t have many famous foods on a national scale, so I am worried about what to eat every time I go to Chungju. Because it is a city with the Namhan River, Spicy Freshwater Fish Stew is famous, and many pheasant dishes can be found here. Spicy Freshwater Fish Stew is not a proper food to eat with children, so I wanted to eat pheasant food, but I could not find a specialty shop near the Jung ang tap park. In this reason, I came to a restaurant that was broadcasted on TV as a big sign in front of the park.

 충주하면 떠오르는 음식이 별로 없는 것 같다. 다른 대도시 들처럼 유명한 음식이 없어서일까 충주에 갈 때마다 무엇을 먹을까 고민이 되는 것도 사실이다. 하지만 사실 충주는 남한강을 끼고 있는 도시이므로 민물 매운탕이 유명하며 꿩요리도 많이 찾아볼 수 있다. 민물 매운탕은 아이와 함께 먹기에 적당한 음식이 아니고 꿩요리가 먹고 싶었지만 중앙탑 공원 근처에서 전문점을 찾아 볼 수 없어서 공원 바로 앞에 큰 간판으로 TV에 방영되었다는 맛집을 찾아왔다.       

 The ‘Maemil Madang’ is located in Chungju, Chungcheongbuk-do, and takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes by car from Seoul. It is a restaurant in front of the entrance to the Jung ang tap park.

 메밀마당은 충청북도 충주시에 있으며 서울에서 승용차로 약 1시간 50분 정도 걸린다. 중앙탑 공원 입구 바로 앞에 있는 음식점이다.

 There is a small parking lot in front of the restaurant, but if you do not have a place, you can park in the nearby Jung ang tap park.

 음식점 앞에 작은 주차장이 있으나 만차일 경우가 많으므로 자리가 없을 경우 근처 중앙탑 공원에 주차하고 오시면 되겠다. 

 This restaurant is actively promoting that it was televised.

 TV에 방영된 맛집임을 적극적으로 홍보 중이다.

 Compared with other Maemil(buckwheat) restaurants, the special thing is that they sell fried chicken. I have never seen a Maemil restaurant in which chicken and beer are available.

 다른 메밀 음식점과 비교했을 때 특별한 점은 후라이드 치킨을 같이 팔고 있다는 것이다. 치맥이 가능한 메밀음식점은 처음 보았다.

 It seems true that it is a local famous restaurant. It was a little over lunch time, so it seemed that many guests had already been here. Many tables were filled with traces of what the guests ate and many places were still crowded with guests.

 이 지역 맛집은 맞는가 보다.  점심때가 조금 지나서 오니 이미 많은 손님들이 다녀간 듯 했다. 많은 테이블이 손님들이 먹고 간 흔적들로 가득했으며 아직도 많은 자리가 손님들로 북적였다. 

 Buckwheat noodles(Makguksu), buckwheat pancake, buckwheat dumplings ... eh? Buckwheat fried chicken? Even though I saw it at the entrance, it was still amazing to see it. I wanted to have chicken, but it seemed to be too much if I eat with Makguksu, so I ordered the Makguksu and Perilla Seed Sujebi. Oh, and one buckwheat Dongdongju(Rice Wine). 

 메밀 막국수, 메밀부침, 메밀만두... 어?? 메밀 후라이드 치킨? 입구에서 보고 들어왔음에도 다시 보니 신기했다. 치킨을 시켜보고 싶었으나 막국수와 같이 먹으면 너무 배부를 것 같아서 막국수와 들깨수제비를 주문했다. 아 그리고 메밀동동주도 하나 ㅎㅎ 

  The weather was good, but my throat was dry because of many fine dusts. When I drank a cup of Dongdongju, that feeling was almost removed.

 날씨는 좋았으나 미세먼지가 많은 날이라 목이 컬컬했는데 동동주 한잔을 넘기니 싹 가셔지는 것 같았다.

 There are two type of Makguksu I ordered. Buckwheat noodle soup(Mul Makguksu) and Spicy Buckwheat noodles(Bibim Makguksu). Choice between these 2 types of Makguksu was always issue for me. My wife and I ordered both and shared each other without worrying. It is one of the good things after marriage.

 주문한 막국수 두 가지. 물 막국수와 비빔막국수다. 막국수집에 오면 항상 고민되는 것이 물, 비빔 막국수 중 선택을 하는 것이었다. 아내와 나는 고민하지 않고 각각 하나씩 주문해서 나누어 먹는다. 결혼하고 좋은 점 중 하나다.

 It was not particularly good taste when compared with other specialty restaurants. However, it seemed that noodles contain a lot of buckwheat, so the texture of the noodles was good like cutting and the price was 6,000 won, which was not so expensive and I liked it. I also liked the Dongdongju which cooled down my throat tired by fine dust. I was sorry that I did not have a chance to eat the Buckwheat chicken, which is a specialty of the house, and I decided to eat it next time.

 다른 막국수 전문점과 비교했을 때 특별히 뛰어난 맛은 아니었다. 하지만 면에 메밀이 많이 들어간 듯, 뚝뚝 면이 끊어지는 식감이 좋았고 가격이 6,000원으로 그리 비싸지 않아 마음에 들었다. 미세먼지에 지친 목을 축여준 막걸리도 마음에 들었다. 이집의 명물인 치킨과 같이 먹어보지 못한 것이 아쉬웠으며 다음에 와서 꼭 먹기로 했다.  

 I could see many of other tables eating Chicken and Makguksu together.

 다른 테이블들을 보면 의외로 치킨과 막국수를 같이 주문해서 먹고 있는 모습들을 볼 수 있었다.

 The Maemil Madang, which made my heart cooler in the Jung ang tap Park, where the panoramic view was impressive, was a memorable restaurant. I liked the friendly staff in spite of busy. I'll have to try the chicken next time I come.

 탁 트인 경치가 인상 깊었던 중앙탑 공원에서 가슴속을 더욱 시원하게 만들어 주었던 메밀마당은 기억에 남는 음식점이었다. 바쁜 데도 불구하고 나름 친절한 종업원들도 마음에 들었다. 다음에 오면 꼭 치킨을 먹어봐야지.
