Hur Shim Chung(Hot Spring & Beer, Busan)_ 허심청(온천 & 맥주, 부산)

 Busan Metropolitan City Dongraegu is the oldest area in Busan and has many historical sites. It is the area where people gathered in Busan since ancient times and the first battle of the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592 was occurred around the mountain fortress of Dongnae where the Jang Yeongsil Science Park which I visited located. It was one of the representative centers of Busan until the 1980s, but the young people have moved to other new shopping districts so it has declined now.

 The hot springs were developed in Dongnae early on, and during the Japanese occupation period, the Japanese liked hot springs and used the tram service between Busan downtown and here. Even now, tourists are visiting, but their original position is losing out to newly developed sightseeing spots such as Haeundae, and the hot spring itself is not popular among the typical tourist products for Koreans now.

 However, some of the hot springs that boast large facilities are still in active operation, and if you look closely, you can find nice accommodation facilities with affordable price compared to Haeundae, so I this it is one the best place for sightseeing Busan. The place I visited this time was Hur Shim Chung and it is the largest public hot spring bath in Busan. 

It is located in Dongnaegu, Busan, and takes about 4 hours and 30 minutes by car from Seoul.

 부산광역시 동래구는 부산에서 가장 오래된 지역으로서 역사유적지가 많다. 필자가 방문했던 장영실 과학동산이 있는 동래산성 주변에서 임진왜란의 첫 전투가 벌어졌던 만큼 예로부터 부산에서 사람들이 많이 모여 살던 지역이다. 1980년대 까지만 해도 부산의 대표적 중심지 중 하나였으나 젊은 층들이 새로 개발되는 다른 번화가로 이동하면서 현재는 많이 쇠퇴한 상황이다.

 동래에는 일찍부터 온천이 개발되어 일제 강점기에 온천을 좋아하는 일본인들이 즐겨 찾아 부산 시내에서 이곳까지 왕복하는 부산전차가 개통되기도 했다. 현재도 관광객들이 찾아오고는 있으나 해운대와 같이 새로 개발된 관광지에 밀리고 온천자체도 한국인들에게 대표적인 관광상품에서 벗어나 그 인기는 예전만 못한 것이 사실이다.

 그러나 아직도 대규모의 시설을 자랑하는 몇몇 온천들이 활발히 영업 중이며 잘 찾아보면 해운대에 비해 시설이 좋은 숙박시설을 저렴하게 이용할 수 있으니 부산관광 시 눈여겨 볼 지역이라고 생각한다.  필자가 이번에 들른 곳은 허심청이라는 곳이었으며 부산 최대의 대중 온천탕이다.  

허심청은 부산광역시 동래구에 위치하며 서울에서 승용차로 약 4시간 30분 정도 걸린다.

 The Hur Shim Chung is operated by Nongshim Hotel and you can use hot springs at a reasonable price if you use hotel.

 허심청은 호텔 농심에서 운영 중이며 호텔을 이용하면 온천을 저렴하게 이용할 수 있으니 참고하시기 바란다. 

 The hotel lobby and entrance are beautifully decorated. However, the surrounding area was crowded with large and small restaurants, Bar and Clubs.

 호텔 로비 및 입구는 아름답게 꾸며져 있다. 하지만 호텔 주변은 크고 작은 음식점 및 유흥업소들이 밀집해 있어 어수선한 느낌을 받았다.  

 Parking is available at the parking tower opposite the hotel. The parking agents in front of the hotel were very helpful.

 주차는 호텔 맞은편 주차타워가 있어 편리하게 이용이 가능하다. 호텔 앞에 주차요원들이 잘 안내해 주고 있었다.

 The price of the room is cheap compared to similar level of hotels in Haeundae. I like the place more personally because discount is available when I use the hot spring.

 객실요금은 해운대 비슷한 수준의 호텔에 비해 저렴한 편이다. 온천 이용 시 할인도 되니 개인적으로는 이곳이 더 마음에 들었다. 

 The room is traditional Korean style and decorated in a modern atmosphere. I liked the clean and practical interior. Foreign tourists seem to like the exotic appearance.

 객실은 한실로 한국 전통 양식을 현대적인 분위기로 표현해 놓았다. 깔끔하고 실용적인 인테리어가 마음에 들었다. 외국인 관광객들도 이국적인 모습을 마음에 들어할 것 같다. 

 The Nongshim Hotel and Hur Shim Chung Building are connected by the following passage. I put my baggage in my room and crossed over to Hur Shim Chung.

 농심호텔과 허심청 건물은 아래와 같이 통로로 이어져 있다. 객실에 짐을 정리하고 허심청 쪽으로 건너가 보았다.

 Although it is a little old interior, it seemed to be managed cleanly. Looking at the sculpture installed in the fountain of the lobby, it seemed like the beautiful women playing instruments in the sky and looks a little countrified.

 조금 오래된 듯한 분위기의 인테리어이지만 나름 깨끗하게 관리하고 있는 것 같았다. 로비의 분수에 설치된 조각을 보면 하늘에서 선녀들이 악기를 연주하는 것 같은데 촌스러워 보였다. 

 On the 1st floor of the Hur Shim Chung building, there is the Pub House ‘Hur Shim Chung brau’. It is said to be one of the most famous handmade beer houses in Busan.

 허심청 건물 1층에는 호프집 허심청브로이가 있다. 부산에서 가장유명한 수제맥주집 중에 하나라고 한다. 

 The interior is very spacious and the tables are well laid out so you can enjoy the beer comfortably. There are live band performances from time to time. Because the performance time differs a little each day, check it in advance then you can enjoy the performance.

 실내는 매우 넓었으며 테이블이 여유 있게 배치되어 있어 편안하게 맥주를 즐길 수 있다. 이 곳에서는 수시로 라이브 밴드공연을 하고 있다고 한다. 매일 공연시간이 조금씩 다르므로 미리 확인하고 방문하시면 즐거운 공연도 볼 수 있다.

 Hur Shim Chung sells craft beer and it is a little more expensive than regular draft beer but rather cheaper than other craft beer houses. The Nongshim Group, which operates Hur Shim Chung and hotel, is a domestic food-related large corporation, and this pub is managed by Nongshim. I wondered about the taste of the beer, which is popular with people.

수제맥주라 일반 생맥주에 비해 가격은 좀 비싸지만 다른 수제맥주집에 비하면 오히려 약간 저렴한 것 같다. 호텔 및 허심청을 운영하는 농심그룹은 국내의 식품관련 대기업이며 이곳은 농심이 직접 관리하는 맥주집이다. 사람들에게 호평을 받고있는 이 매장 맥주의 맛이 어떤지 궁금했다. 

 I ordered Pillsnner and drank it, but I did not feel any different from other craft beers. Although I often drink beer, I don’t have ability to distinguish the subtle difference in taste, so it is difficult to evaluate it. At least there was a fresh taste and aroma rather than the imported beer sold at the market these days. I wanted to try other beers, but I put the sadness behind me and left from this pub because I can’t drink too much.

 필스너를 주문해 마셔 보았는데 다른 수제맥주와 별 차이를 느끼지는 못했다. 맥주를 자주 마시는 편이기는 하지만 미묘한 맛의 차이를 구별하지는 못하는 터라 맛의 평가를 내리기 어려운 점 양해 부탁 드린다. 적어도 요즘 시중 마트에서 판매하는 수입 맥주들보다는 신선한 맛과 향이 있었다. 다른 맥주도 먹어보고 싶었으나 주량이 얼마 안되어 아쉬움을 하고 일어섰다.

 It is said that Hur Shim Chung is selling beer made by Brew Master, who studied in Germany, using imported brewing equipment and malt directly from Germany. If you know the taste of beer, I recommend that you try it in this pub once.

 허심청에서는 독일에서 직접 양조장비와 맥아를 수입하여 독일에서 유학한 브루마스터(Brew Master)가 제조한 맥주를 판매하고 있다고 한다. 맥주 맛을 아는 분들은 꼭 한번 들려서 평가해 보시기를 추천 드린다. 

 There were also souvenirs on sale on the side of the store.

 I went to Hur Shim Chung Hot Spring the next morning. I was able to visit easily by using the passage of the 2^nd floor as I looked around yesterday in advance.

 다음날 아침 허심청 온천을 찾아갔다. 어제 미리 둘러본 대로 2층의 통로를 이용해서 편하게 찾아갈 수 있었다.

 Hot spring charge is 9,000 won on weekdays and 11,000 won on weekends for adults, 7,000 won for elementary students, and 5,000 won for children. To use the jjimjilbang, an additional fee of 2,000 won is required. Guests staying at the hotel may be given free access to hot springs, so be sure to check it during check-in.

 Hur Shim Chung Hot Springs was the largest in the Orient at the time of opening, so if you consider general sauna when you go there, you will be amazed at its size. As soon as I entered the hot spring, I was very surprised seeing many facilities on the domed ceiling for natural light. It seems like a little small water park as its size.

온천이용요금은 성인 평일 9,000원 주말 11,000원 / 초등학생 7,000원/ 어린이 5,000원이다. 찜질방을 이용하려면 추가요금 2,000원을 더 내야한다. 호텔이용시 온천 무료이용권을 제공하는 경우도 있으니 호텔 체크인시 반드시 확인해 보시기 바란다.

허심청 온천은 개장당시 동양 최대규모였던 만큼 일반 사우나를 생각하고 가시면 그 크기에 놀라실 것이다. 필자도 온천 내에 들어서자 마자 자연채광을 위한 돔형 천장에 수많은 시설을 보고 입이 다물어 지지 않았다. 조금 작은 워터파크의 규모라는 느낌이 들 정도였다.

 I have not visited the Jjimjilbang, but I am told that it is not so impressive compared to hot springs. However, foreign tourists like Jjimjilbang so much, so please use it with those who are interested.

 찜질방은 가보지 않았지만 온천에 비해 그리 인상깊지는 않다고들 한다. 하지만 외국인 관광객들이 찜질방을 그렇게 좋아한다고 하니 관심있으신 분들은 같이 이용해 보시길 바란다.

 The Dongnae Hot Spring is the oldest hot spring in Korea, and it is said that it is also recorded in the literature during the Three Kingdoms period. It is also the place where it has been loved for a long time that it has been used as a hot spring for 1,500 years.

 동래온천은 한국에서 제일 오래된 온천이며 삼국시대에 문헌에도 기록이 있다고 한다. 또한 1,500년 간 온천으로 이용되지 않은 적이 없을 만큼 오랫동안 사랑을 받아온 곳이기도 하다. 

 Hur Shim Chung is using the hot springs through its own water pipe and it is very good quality of water. If you are interested in sightseeing in Busan, please stop by here and evaluate. If there are so many crowded during the weekend or holiday season, consider using other hot springs nearby. Geumcheon Park Hot Spring, DaeSungGwan are popular places for people.

 허심청은 자체 개발한 용수관을 통해 온천을 끌어올려 사용하고 있는데 수질이 참 좋다고 하니 부산관광을 하신다면 들려서 평가해 보시기 바란다. 주말이나 연휴기간에 이용객들이 몰려 혼잡하다면 주변의 다른 온천을 이용하는 것도 고려해 보자. 금천파크온천, 대성관등이 평이 괜찮은 업소들이다.   

 We had a hot spring bath in the morning and used the hotel breakfast.

 아침에 개운하게 온천욕을 하고 호텔 조식을 이용했다. 

 It creates a bright atmosphere using the most of natural light through wide whole glass.

 넓은 통유리를 통해 자연채광을 최대한 활용해서 밝은 분위기를 연출한다.  

 Although there are not many kinds of food, the hotel take care of each food because it is a place where the representative food company of Korea operates.

 음식의 종류가 많지는 않지만 국내 대표 식품기업이 운영하는 곳인만큼 음식 하나하나에 신경을 쓴 모습이다.

 Of course, it cannot be compared to the breakfast of a 5-star hotel, but the taste of all the meals I have eaten is excellent, and I think it is among the best in its class.

 물론 5성급 호텔의 조식에 비할 바는 아니나 먹었던 모든 음식의 맛이 훌륭한 편으로 동급 호텔 중에서는 최상에 속한다고 생각한다. 

 I came out after check-out satisfactorily. The rear of the hotel is well arranged compared to the front. This street seems famous for sea eel, so there were see eel restaurants all over the place. I will try the dish once when I come next time.

 만족스런 호텔이용을 마치고 밖으로 나왔다. 호텔 뒤쪽은 앞쪽에 비해 정돈이 잘 된 모습이다. 이곳은 곰장어가 유명한 지 곳곳에 곰장어 음식점이 있었다. 다음에 오면 곰장어를 한 번 먹어 봐야겠다.

 I turned around the alley and saw the outdoor hot spring. Some elderly people were enjoying foot bath.

 골목을 한바퀴 돌다 보니 온천 노천탕이 보였다. 연세가 좀 있으신 분들께서 족욕을 즐기고 계셨다.

 I was interested, so decided to try. Put your shoes and socks in the shoe box shown below and dip your feet in hot spring.

 흥미가 생겨 필자도 한 번 시도해 보기로 했다. 아래 사진에 보이는 신발장에 신발과 양말을 넣은 뒤 발을 담그면 된다.

 It took less than ten minutes to pull my foot off and I ran out of it. It is very hot so hard for the people who cannot tolerate hot things to use. Try it to make fun memories.

 10분도 못되어 발을 빼고 얼른 도망치듯 나왔다. 뜨거운 것을 잘 못 참는 분들은 이용하기 어려울 정도로 물이 뜨겁다. 재미있는 추억을 만들 겸 한 번 시도해 보시길.

 You can see pictures of the past of Dongnae Hot Springs on the wall next to the outdoor bath. It is interesting that they are arranged in chronological order from the late 1800s to the mid-1900s. During the Japanese colonial period, the hot spring area used by Koreans and Japanese was divided.

 노천탕 옆으로 동래온천의 과거 모습을 볼 수 있는 사진들이 벽에 붙어있다. 1800년대 후반부터 1900년대 중반까지 시간 순서대로 정리되어 있는데 흥미롭다. 일제강점기에는 한국인과 일본인이 이용하는 온천 구역이 나뉘어 있었다고 한다.

 The alleyway that was seen last night when we came to Nongshim Hotel. There are adult entertainment facilities. It may be a little uncomfortable for those who are on a family trip. We can understood that the hot springs area is a place where the entertainment culture has developed, and therefore tourism facilities and nightlife facilities are mixed.

 어제 밤 농심호텔로 오면서 보였던 골목길. 유흥업소들이 몰려 있다. 가족여행을 오신 분들께는 약간 불편할 수도 있겠다. 원래 온천 지역이 유흥문화가 발달했던 곳이라 관광시설과 유흥시설이 혼재하고 있다는 것으로 이해하시면 될 것이다.

 It is grandfather statue which is mascot of hot spring area. In 1926, it was built at the terminal when Busan city tram was extended to Dongnae Hot Springs. It has been managed by Hotel Nongshim after the tram was demolished. It is like a Jangseung(Korean traditional totem pole) which was built at the entrance of a Korean village. Funny.

 온천지역의 마스코트인 할아버지 상이다. 1926년 부산시내 전차가 이곳 동래온천까지 연장운행 되면서 종점에 세워졌던 것으로 전차가 철거되면서 호텔농심에서 관리 중이다. 한국의 마을 입구에 세워졌던 장승 같기도 하고 재미있다.

 I like Busan so stop by here once or twice a year, but Dongnae area was my first visit. Unexpectedly clean facilities and lots of attractions gave me great satisfaction, so this trip was like finding the pearls in the soil. If you are planning a trip to Busan, I recommend you to add Dongnae here in your itinerary.

 필자는 부산을 좋아해 1년에 한두번은 꼭 가고 있는데 이곳 동래지역은 이번이 첫 방문이었다. 의외로 깨끗한 시설과 많은 볼거리가 큰 만족을 주었기에 이번 여행은 흙 속의 진주를 찾은 기분이었다. 부산여행을 계획하신다면 방문지역에 이곳 동래를 추가해 보실 것을 추천한다.
