47. Kim Si Min(Historic Site, Cheonan)_김시민(유허지, 천안)

 Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, the big war during the Joseon Dynasty, caused a great crisis in the Joseon society, and at the same time, many changes took place as a whole. The population and land that can be farmed were greatly reduced, and many cultural assets were lost during the war. But the bigger thing was the change in people 's perception of the nation. Because the number of the regular army was insufficient at that time, almost all wars were carried out by the general people, and the patriotism of the people had been increased. In addition, the post - war status system has also changed drastically due to the change of status depending on the degrees of contribution to the country. There was a battle of Jinju that had a great victory against the Japanese army with the power of the people.

  It was one of the three greatest victory of the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, and won against the elite military in Japan with the civilian and the army joined forces. As a result, Joseon were able to secure the breadbasket of Jeolla-Do for foods which was essential for next battle. The general who led these great victory is Kim Si Min.  When you go to Jinju in Gyeongsangnam-do, there is Jinju castle where the battle took place at that time, and there you can see the relics related to General Kim Si Min and the great victory of Jinju. The place I visited this time is where General Kim Si min was born. It is located in Cheonan, Chungnam, and takes 2 hours by car from Seoul.

조선시대에 일어난 큰 전란인 임진왜란은 조선사회에 큰 위기를 가져옴과 동시에 사회 전반적으로 많은 변화가 일어났다. 인구와 농사를 지을 수 있는 토지가 크게 감소하였으며 많은 문화재들이 전란 중에 소실되었다. 하지만 이보다 큰 것은 백성들의 국가에 대한 인식 변화였다. 조선은 당시 정규군의 숫자가 많이 부족했기 때문에 거의 모든 전쟁을 일반 백성들이 직접 참여하여 수행했으며 이를 통해 백성들의 애국심이 높아졌다. 또한 나라에 기여한 공에 따라 신분이 바뀌기도 하여 전후 신분제도도 크게 변화하였다. 민중의 힘으로 임진왜란에서 크게 승리한 전투가 있었으니 바로 진주대첩이다. 

 임진왜란 3대 대첩의 하나로 민, 군이 하나로 힘을 합쳐 일본 정예병력에 큰 승리를 거두었으며 전라도의 곡창지역을 온전히 보존하여 이후 전쟁을 수행하는데 없어서는 안될 군량미를 확보할 수 있었던 큰 의의를 가지고 있다. 이런 진주대첩을 지휘한 장군이 바로 김시민이다. 김시민 장군에 대한 자세한 사항은 자료실을 통해 확인하도록 하자.(http://gbbrake.tistory.com/25)

 

 경상남도 진주에 가면 당시 전투가 벌어졌던 진주성이 있으며 그곳에 김시민 장군 및 진주대첩관련 유적을 관람할 수 있다. 필자가 이번에 방문한 곳은 김시민 장군이 태어난 유허지 이다. 충남 천안에 있으며 서울에서 승용차로 2시간 걸린다.

 There is not a parking lot specially because it is not a sightseeing spot. It is possible to park in an open space near and to observe because it is a quiet place.

 The place with the stones shown below is where the legend says that General Kim Si min killed a big snake called Imoogi with arrow when he was nine years old.

 관광지가 아니라 특별히 주차장은 마련되어 있지 않으며 한적한 곳이므로 근처의 빈 곳에 주차를 하고 관람을 할 수 있다.

아래 보이는 돌이 있는 장소는 김시민 장군이 9세때 활을 쏘아 이무기를 잡았다는 전설이 전해지는 곳이다.  

 If you go up a little, you can see a monument for General Kim Si-min.

 위로 조금 올라가면 '충무공 김시민 장군 유허비'라고 쓰인 비석을 볼 수 있다. 

 If you pass a monument and climb a little further, you can see the generals' birthplace on your left. I was a bit embarrassed because there was only a lot without restored house.

비석을 지나쳐 조금 더 올라가면 왼쪽으로 장군의 생가터를 볼 수 있다. 집을 복원하지는 않았고 집터만 볼 수 있어서 약간 당황스럽기도 했다.  

 There are several historical sites in Cheonan including this one. There are two more of the 100 great men, Yu Gwan-soon and Park Moon-soo.

 이 곳을 포함하여 천안에는 아래와 같이 여러 유적지가 있으며 그 중에는 100명의 위인들 중 유관순, 박문수 두 분을 더 만나볼 수 있다. 

 Visiting this place is not recommended. There is nothing to see and it is not easy to enter and park near the residential area. It is recommended to visit Jinju Castle in Gyeongnam for a visit to General Kim. It would be a good idea to stop by here for a while when you see the remains of Yu Gwan-soon or Park Moon-soo.

 이 곳을 방문하시는 것은 추천드리지 않는다. 오셔서 볼만한 것이 없으며 일반 주거지 근처라 진입과 주차도 쉽지않다. 김시민 장군에 대해 보시려면 경남 진주의 진주성 방문을 추천드리며 이곳은 유관순 유적이나 박문수 유적을 보실 때 잠깐 들르는 것이 좋지 않을까 한다.
