Alang-ga Pizza(Seochon in Seoul)_알랑가피자(서울 서촌)

 As Seochon recently became a popular sightseeing spot, various commercial facilities reflecting the latest trend have been opened in the old alleyways. It is impossible to build a high-rise building near Gyeongbokgung, and it is designated as a Hanok preservation area, so it is hard to build big-sized shop because there is a limit to building houses of different styles instead of hanok. Therefore, the cafes, workshops, and restaurants in Seochon are charmingly decorated with small size using existed residential houses.

 There are also a variety of famous restaurants, some of them have been in operation since before Seochon became popular, and other restaurants become famous after starting business recently.

 Alang-ga Pizza that I visited today belongs to the latter, and I stopped by here by accident while walking on the alley after a visit to Lee Sang’s house.

 서촌이 최근 각광받는 관광지로 떠오르면서 오래된 골목길 사이사이에 최신 트랜드를 반영하는 여러가지 상업시설들이 입점하게 되었다. 경복궁 근처라 높은 건물을 지을 수도 없고 한옥보전구역으로 지정이 되어 있어 한옥대신 다른 양식의 집을 짓는데 제한이 있기 때문에 대형 점포가 들어서는 데는 어려움이 있다. 따라서 서촌의 카페, 공방, 음식점등은 기존 주택 건물을 활용하거나 작은 규모의 아기자기한 형태를 가지고 있다. 

 음식점의 종류도 다양한데 서촌이 유명해지기 전부터 자리를 잡고 영업하는 토종 맛집부터 새로 입점해서 유명해진 맛집들도 있다.

오늘 방문한 알랑가피자는 후자에 속하는데 이상의 집 관람 후 골목길을 걷다 우연히 들르게 되었다.

 Seochon Alang-ga Pizza is located in Tongin-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. There is no parking space, so using public transportation is recommended.

서촌 알랑가피자는 서울 종로구 통인동에 있으며 주차공간이 없으니 대중교통 이용을 추천 드린다.

 Alang-ga Pizza can be visited without difficulty by getting off from Gyeongbokgung Station on subway line 3. When you come out of exit 2 of Gyeongbokgung Station, you can see the following street. The right side is Gyeongbok Palace and the left side is Seochon.

 알랑가 피자는 지하철 3호선 경복궁역에서 내리면 어렵지 않게 찾아갈 수 있다. 경복궁역 2번 출구를 나오면 아래와 같은 거리가 보인다. 우측은 경복궁이고 좌측은 서촌이다.

 If you go up passing through the food culture street, you can see Hyoja-dong branch of Woori Bank and go to the left alley here.

 음식문화의 거리를 지나쳐 계속 위로 올라가면 우리은행 효자동 지점이 보이고 여기서 좌측 골목으로 들어가시면 된다. 

 As you climb up the alley on the left, you can see the building, which seems to have been remodeled an ordinary modernized Hanok, to the right. It is the ‘Lee Sang’s House’. 

 If you go continue after passing the house,

좌측 골목을 따라 올라가다 보면 평범한 개량한옥을 개조한 듯한 건물이 우측으로 보이는데 이것이 이상의 집이다. 이상의 집을 지나쳐서 계속 가다 보면

 Alang-ga Pizza is seen to the right. 

 Seochon is a place that evokes nostalgia as it remains the appearance of the residential alleyway at that time as if time had stopped in the 1970s ~ 80s.

 우측으로 알랑가피자가 보인다. 

 서촌은 1970~80년대쯤 시간이 멈춰버린 듯 그 당시의 주택가 골목길의 모습을 그대로 유지하고 있어 향수를 불러 일으키는 장소이다. 

 Usually, one restaurant treats pizza and spaghetti together, however it has uniquely Asian-style rice noodles and pizza in the menu.

 보통 한 음식점에서 피자와 스파게티를 같이 취급하는데 이곳은 특이하게 아시아 풍의 쌀국수를 피자와 같이 선보인다. 

 It is the point that this restaurant emphasizes to offer cheap and light food.

 

 저렴하고 담백한 음식을 선보이는 것이 이 음식점이 강조하는 포인트란다.

 Like other culinary restaurants, this is also a space created by renovating the first floor of a typical villa building. It is decorated with a trendy interior that reveals the frame of building.

 여느 서촌의 음식점들과 같이 이곳도 일반 빌라건물 1층을 개조하여 만들어진 공간이다. 요즘 많이 보이는 골조가 드러나는 인테리어로 꾸며져 있다.   

 There are less than 10 tables in the restaurant and you can sit at the table to see how the dishes are cooked because it is a open-type kitchen.

  테이블은 채 10개가 되지 않고 오픈 키친 형식의 주방이라 조리하는 모습을 테이블에 앉아서 볼 수 있다. 

 I ordered fried rice, noodles, a pizza with one of each.

 볶음밥 하나 국수 하나 그리고 피자를 주문했다.

 Fried rice is similar to what it eats in Vietnamese or Thai restaurants. The price was as low as 7,000 won, and the taste was ordinary.

 볶음밥은 베트남이나 타이 음식점에서 먹는 그것과 유사하다. 가격은 7,000 원 대로 저렴한 편이고 맛은 평범한 수준이었다. 

 Next is pizza. It was a 9,900 won Pepperoni pizza. Taste was excellent comparing to the price and a lot of cheese was on pizza. I know that other Italian restaurants don’t serve the dish with this price level.

 다음은 피자. 9,900원짜리 페퍼로니 피자였는데 가격대비 맛도 훌륭하고 치즈도 많이 올라가 있었다. 다른 이탈리아 레스토랑에서는 이 가격에는 먹을 수 없는 것으로 알고 있다.

 Vongole rice noodle soup. This is the hidden card of this house. It is like a mixture of rice noodle soup and Vongole spaghetti and very good taste, as if it were inspired by a Vongole spaghetti. It is used thick rice noodle which is different from the one of general Vietnamese restaurant. If you cannot eat oily meal well, you might have had difficulty eating pizza and spaghetti together when you visit an Italian restaurant. It seemed to be more delicious in case of eating them together because the rice noodles relieve oily taste of the pizza.

 It was a tasty restaurant to try with lunch when you come to Seochon.

 봉골쌀탕면. 이 녀석이 이집의 히든카드라고 할 수 있는데 베트남 쌀국수 음식점의 면과는 다른 굵은 쌀면을 사용하고 아마 봉골레 스파게티에서 영감을 받은 듯 해물칼국수와 봉골레 스파게티를 섞어 놓은 듯한 맛이 일품이었다. 느끼한 것을 잘 못 먹는 분들이라면 이탈리아 음식점에 갔을 때 피자와 스파게티를 함께 먹기 어려운 적이 있었을 것이다. 이 쌀국수가 피자의 느끼함을 잡아주어 두 개를 같이 먹을 때 더 맛이 있을 것 같았다. 

서촌에 나들이 오실 때 점심식사로 한 번쯤 드셔 보시면 좋을 그런 맛집이었다.
